Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month is celebrated during the month of May, and honors the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans.  The AAPI umbrella term includes cultures throughout Asia—including East, Southeast and South Asia—and the Pacific Islands of Hawaii, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.
