If you have a school-age child not registered yet in Seattle Public Schools, mark your calendar for Monday, Jan. 6, when online registration for new students begins. Enrolling early for the upcoming school year helps SPS get to know your child and your family before school starts and will ensure you have all the information you need to start the new school year off right! Here is important information from Seattle Public Schools to help you register your child.

Enrollment Dates:

Online registration for new students for 2020-2021 school year: Jan. 6

Open enrollment for School Choice: Feb. 3 through Feb. 14

Which school can I enroll my child into?

Children living in Seattle are guaranteed an assignment based on their address or the school best able to serve their needs. Find your neighborhood school here.

Documents you will need to register new students

  1. Parent or guardian photo ID or passport
  2. Two (2) proofs of home address dated within past eight weeks 
  3. Certificate of Immunization Status or Certificate of Immunization Exemption
  4. Birth certificate or passport: This only applies to students who are enterting kindergarten or first grade, or are applying to a Special Education Preschool program. 

 

Where do I register my child for the new school year?

Online: Registration for new students can be completed online. The registration form will be available on January 6. Click here for more information. 

Registration Events: You can go to a registration event to get help with online registration and learn more about your child’s transition into a new school. There will also be interpreters available. Here’s a list of registration events in your area. 

In-Person: Attend the Annual Admissions Fair on Jan. 18 at the John Stanford Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
