Even as we maintain social distancing during the effort to stop the spread of coronavirus, the SHA community – tenants, staff and partners – are finding ways to help each other. If you know of stories about people helping meet the needs or lift the spirits of others, let us know and we’ll share them. Email Brittney Nitta-Lee, editor of The Voice. Thanks to everyone for acts of kindness large and small throughout our SHA community.
Porch talks
SHA Youth Engagement Specialist, Ty Edwards and Youth Connector, Abraham Kidanemariam stay connected with youth in NewHolly and Rainier Vista communities through "porch talks."
While maintaining social distancing by staying outside, Ty visits the boys’ homes every other week to see how they’re doing and to deliver any things they may need.
“The care packages include items like deodorant, toothpaste, coloring books and snacks. We also include any resources that are available to them,” said Ty.
Ty has setup an educational learning packet pick up site for youth who do not have access to devices to participate in online learning classes. For more information about educational learning packets, contact Ty at 206.883.7841 or email ty.edwards@seattlehousing.org.
