Seattle City Light is warning customers about scam artists claiming to be utility bill collectors. Scammers are claiming a customer has an overdue bill and must make an immediate payment by phone or their power will be shutoff. Seattle City Light said it never demands payment over the phone and customers who are behind on their bill receive a written warning in advance before power is shut off. Customers who receive a call for immediate payment should hang up immediately and call the Seattle City Light Customer Service Center at 206.684.3000.
