SHA owns and operates more than 8,000 apartments and single-family homes at nearly 400 sites throughout the city. The majority of this program is supported by a federal subsidy that allows households to pay 30% of their income for rent and utilities. Many locations include on-site supportive services.
Units are located throughout Seattle and come in a range of bedroom sizes. They are located in apartment buildings, smaller, multi-unit buildings, town homes and a few single-family homes. Within the LIPH program are hundreds of Scattered Sites properties. These properties do not appear in our Search properties results, but Scattered Sites can be selected as a property choice on the SHA Housing application.
Buildings are reserved primarily for seniors and disabled adults, who pay an affordable rent according to tiers that are tied to income. Most are one-bedroom apartments, with a few two-bedroom units. Many locations include on-site supportive services.
Throughout its properties, SHA also has a limited number of units that differ in eligibility, rent and application process than the two main programs above, and may also vary from property to property. Here are descriptions of the two additional programs.
Smoking is not permitted in individual units or the common spaces of any SHA Housing property.
Seattle Housing Authority will, upon request, provide reasonable accommodation to help ensure that no otherwise qualified individual with a disability is excluded from participating in, or denied the benefit of, any agency program.
