Foster Youth to Independence program

The Foster Youth to Independence program (FYI) provides youth with  up to 36 months of housing assistance and supportive services to assist on their path to self-sufficiency. Youth participating in the FYI program receive a Housing Choice Voucher.

Who is eligible for an FYI voucher?

Youth who:

  • were in foster care at some point between their 16th and 18th birthday
  • are between the ages of 18-24
  • have left foster care or will leave foster care within 90 days
  • are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

 

How to apply?

QR codeEligible youth can fill out this self-referral form (or use the QR code to go to the form) to get connected with a voucher specialist at the YMCA who can help with the application procress.

Youth who enroll in Seattle Housing Authority's JobLink program may be eligible for an additional 24 months of housing assistance beyond the initial 36 month term.
