There are a limited number of units in SHA’s Special Portfolio housing program, which are located in select multi-unit buildings and apartment buildings throughout Seattle. Income levels to be eligible vary by property from 30 percent or less of Area Media Income (AMI) all the way up to 100 percent of AMI. Some apartments have income-based rent, where households pay 30 percent of their income toward the rent, while others have rents set in a manner more similar to conventional, market-rate rental properties.
Special Portfolio housing has different categories and application procedures from other SHA housing. Some properties are managed by SHA while others are privately managed.
