Private development at Yesler
Private developers are important partners in the redevelopment of Yesler. The Seattle Housing Authority’s master plan for a vibrant, quality community at Yesler calls for significantly increasing the number of housing units, adding business and office space, parks and other amenities. Proceeds from the sale of select parcels of land to private developers are a critical source of funding for the Seattle Housing Authority’s creation of new low-income housing. In addition, all private developers at Yesler commit to keeping a portion of their apartments affordable to people whose incomes are less than the area median income but above the level that qualifies for an SHA rent subsidy.
