The Seattle Teen Summit has opened its call for proposals for the 2018 to be held August 12th at the New Holly Gathering Hall.

It is a one-day summit with workshops, a banquet, service projects, team-building sessions, entertainment and leadership excursions attended by students and advisers from dozens of schools throughout Washington State. Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to submit a proposal to present a workshop at this summit with a audience of more than 200 plus youth.

Workshops are either 60-minute single sessions or 135-minute double sessions. These sessions are interactive sessions that engage, equip and empower participants in one of seven areas:

* Social Justice, Empowerment, and Activism: these workshops will introduce and/or advance students’ understanding of the importance of becoming social agents of changes and empower youth to take on different initiatives and implementation within their communities.

* Personal Leadership Development: students build and learn skills that they can use to achieve their full potential. Students learn the importance of health and wellness issues related to the mind, body, and soul.

* Cross Cultural Communication and Skills: these workshops are designed to increase students’ awareness, knowledge, and understanding related to race, ethnicity, and other differences of groups other than their own.

* Ethnic, Racial, Identity, and Cultural Sensitivity: introduce students to concepts and structures that will strengthen their ethnic and/or racial identity.

* Education, High School and College Navigation: Students learn how to navigate the high school and college system to be successful. Some topics can include: financial aid, college admissions, academic success, positive relationships, resisting peer pressure, making positive choices etc...

*Employment: Students will learn how to build resumes, best practices around attire, interviews, elevator pitch, job applications and internship support.

* Community Engagement and Service Project: Students will learn, and/or participate in projects that impact community and provide opportunities to continue being a part of the positive transformations locally and globally.
